Understanding Group Therapy & Insurance Coverage
What is a Psychotherapeutic Group?
Psychotherapeutic groups are clinically facilitated by licensed mental health professionals and focus on promoting emotional healing, personal growth, and behavioral change. These groups are eligible for insurance reimbursement because they are considered a recognized form of mental health treatment.
About Cost & Insurance Coverage
Many insurance plans cover psychotherapeutic groups if they are facilitated by a licensed clinician and meet clinical criteria. However, group therapy co-pays and deductibles can vary widely and in some cases, your out-of-pocket cost through insurance may be more than the cost of paying directly through our nonprofit.
We are committed to making care more accessible. Thanks to our nonprofit structure and sliding scale rates, many of our group offerings are available at a low cost, sometimes less than what you'd pay using your insurance.
What You Can Do:
We encourage you to check your behavioral health benefits directly with your insurance provider to understand your co-pay, deductible, or limits on group therapy.
Our administrative team will also conduct a benefits check and bill insurance when possible.
Whether you use insurance or self-pay, our goal is to keep your costs minimal while offering high-quality care.
Types of Groups We Offer
We recognize that healing is not one-size-fits-all. That’s why our nonprofit offers a variety of group experiences, each rooted in evidence-based practices:
Processing Groups
These groups offer a safe and confidential space to explore emotions, reflect on experiences, and share personal challenges. The emphasis is on emotional expression, validation, and healing through connection. - Reclaiming the Sacred Self
Skills Groups
These are structured and interactive groups that teach coping tools, communication strategies, emotion regulation, and other mental health skills, often drawn from modalities like DBT, CBT, or mindfulness-based approaches. - Restorative Pathways
Psychoeducational Groups
These focus on increasing knowledge and insight. Topics might include understanding trauma responses, nervous system regulation, grief, or relationship patterns. The goal is to inform and empower.
Support Groups
These groups foster peer connection and mutual encouragement. While facilitated by a professional, they emphasize shared experience, reducing isolation, and building community support.
Some groups may blend elements from more than one category depending on client needs and the group’s therapeutic goals.
Restorative Pathways
A trauma-informed psychotherapy group designed for individuals navigating the effects of Adjustment Disorder, PTSD, and chronic anxiety. Grounded in evidence-based practices and the latest research in trauma recovery, this group supports participants in cultivating nervous system regulation, emotional resilience, and post-traumatic growth.
Led by a Vanessa a licensed clinical social worker trained in integrative mind-body approaches and Elizabeth a certified yoga instructor/somatic/breathwork/sound therapy practitioner, this group creates a safe, structured, and compassionate space for individuals to process distressing life transitions, trauma histories, or chronic stress.

Reclaiming the Sacred Self
This 12-week trauma recovery group weaves together the evidence-based structure of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) with somatic, symbolic, and ritual practices rooted in polyvagal theory, Jungian psychology, and holistic healing traditions. Designed for adults navigating PTSD, Adjustment Disorders, or trauma-related anxiety, this group emphasizes narrative repair, nervous system regulation, and reconnection to one’s embodied sense of power, trust, and worth.
Each session combines cognitive restructuring with yoga-informed movement, breathwork, sound therapy, crystal ritual, and archetypal storytelling.
The goal is to help participants move beyond cognitive insight into deep somatic integration and meaning-making, offering clients a path not just to cope, but to reclaim the sacred core of selfhood post-trauma.
